Alfred Conteh's “Our Greatest Inheritance” Dedication | Peoria Riverfront Museum
Alfred Conteh’s piece “Our Greatest Inheritance” is finally revealed!
This beautiful piece, the first that Conteh has ever created on a subject not from his home base in Atlanta, Georgia, features a family from our city, the city of gratitude: Peoria, Illinois.
The massive 10x7-foot painting also marks the first time that the Peoria Riverfront Museum will commission a nationally recognized artist.
See the painting in person at the Peoria Riverfront Museum! Plan your visit on our website today: RiverfrontMuseum.org
The Alfred Conteh documentary, The Unseen Majority, is sponsored by Oak River Foundation, and Ron Givens and Family.
The acquisition of Alfred Conteh’s portrait, Our Greatest Inheritance (2024), is made possible by an initial gift from Ron Givens and family, with major support from the Peoria Riverfront Museum’s Anniversary Fund established in honor of guest curator Bill Heidrich, Oak River Foundation, Josh and Danette Swank, Brian and Erica Ray, and Andrew Muir.
Additional support provided by Gretchen Hagen Petrakis, Derrick Booth and Jehan Gordon-Booth, Family of Erma Davis, Aaron and Amanda Kilgore and Family, John Heintzman and Jeff Heintzman, Rosemary McCullough in memory of her mother, Geraldine Mitchell, Sally Snyder, and Joe and Sharon Montgomery and Family in honor of Everley Davis.

From Russia with love) specifically from Sakhalin Island. Your creativity, your voice, has been giving me the strength to live for many years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I have a few pieces but no one is interested, why? I am in Algeria, and here almost no one is interested in science, much less in archeology and other research. If I tell you that a driver with us is better paid than an architect or an engineer; hard to admit, but it's the truth. Consequently, I am ready to hand over my collection to a museum so that humankind can benefit from it. Some pieces are out of the ordinary, and have signs, others have rare calligraphies that only specialists can decipher.

Clear skies and enjoy this super cool rare event 😎 unfortunately it won't be visible from the UK 🔭
Very interesting talk. I wish there were more like it.
It’s funny how I think, “that’s not how Lincoln sounded” but lol when I have I ever actually heard Lincoln. Great job!
Apparently he actually had a wheezy high voice
Hi John. I understand you recorded a single under the name John St Jainne called Listen To My Eyes. It's so beautiful. Do you know the date it was released?
Who are these people! Obviously unattributable to LdV - just look at the right hand alone (unrestored) and count the anatomical mistakes.
Mmmmmm😊
great guy. studied at u of i same time i was in the school of music
Not sure, but I don't like the "restoration" result which makes it look more faked.
❤
Absolutely stunning work!
Some years ago I purchased several cards in a flea market for few money. President Grant, Charles Darwin, several Russian czars, and even one signed by Charles Dickens. I still have to send this card to be evaluated. If the signature real, the card is quite rare and valuable. I found out in auctions in the last years similar cards were sold for 10k dollars (although the estimation was somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5k). Now I go very carefully through all cards in flea markets 😊
The Star Wars bit into the jam was epic
Sickenning to watch those smug people. I'm having the last laugh because I know its a fake - or at least not painted by Leonardo.
Does the museum have any interest in Turkey Calls e.g. box calls?
Absolutely incredible performances!
This was a great experience. Thank you
Fascinating.
It takes a village to make a great community.

Didn’t realize my family had a historian. Neat.
Thank you for the informative tour of this collection. I must go back and see it again. The Riverfront Museum is a Peoria treasure!
Beautiful vintage decoys, the realistic details are off the charts. 🇺🇸👍

a man after my own heart
Cause ppl just don't give a damn about learning... just looking and sounding 'learned' ... the actual act of gaining said knowledge with deeper thinking is just too time consuming, complicated, and difficult I guess...
These guys need to read Ben Lewis's book, the Last Leonardo. This curator Heidrich is just floundering around without all the facts. For instance, the National Gallery never should have shown a painting like this which was clearly for sale. There never really was the consensus among experts that these guys assume. It was 50 percent Leonardo and 50 percent his students. Essentially the whole face is the product of the "restorer"s hand. The work was supposed to be done by her husband, but he got sick and died. She had a mini=nervous breakdown and this is the result. Contrary to good practices in restoration, no record of Diane M's restoration was ever produced. Read Lewis's book. Don't listen to these guys.
This is a fraud. The picture itself is not great but terrrible, actually the restoration painting over is very poorly done. The wonky eyes, the chipmunk jaws, the thick nose, leafy lips, unrealistic orb, dead wrong values and bad hair day make this painting at best made by one of the acquaintances of Leonardo. A pretty bad and unexperienced one actually.
Cool! She is a great builder and teacher. Thanks for sharing.
Hello, John. This is Sherry Gaa. Please, feel free to contact me (canterburycottagepeoria@gmail.com) if you would like some feedback on your UA-cam channel. I have a couple of suggestions for you.
Charles stay with his uncle Samuel Shryock while attending school in Laharpe Illinois . Samuel is my great great grandfather
I have a video camera that can shoot in infrared. I'm gonna see if that'll help reduce the effect of the bright moon washing out the sky.
Dr Sarah unfortunately seems to portray her lack of knowledge about how the spiritual is far more real than the physical. Other than that…. Great talk and discussion. Much appreciated- God bless you all. 🫶🏽🙏🏾
Very inspiring to see Rochelle’s work- amazing innovation!

Thanks for posting. I did not know Peoria had a stockyard that supplemented the operation in Chicago.
I live in midwestern Wisconsin and recently uncovered some interesting things. All of the fossils I’ve found are COVERED with these things! I’m looking for someone to help me but everyone says it’s impossible to find anything here because the glaciers wiped everything out. Im not crazy! I know what I’m finding is real. If you’re interested in seeing some things I’ve found, please reach out!

I bought a small table with the top in tiles that look like delft tiles. Is there anywhere I can show someone pictures of it to see if they are?
I'm so proud that the PRM was able to host this meaningful event. Unfortunately, I had a difficult time hearing the comments by each participant.
John and Jeff (in no particular order) THANK YOU SO MUCH
